O’REILLYS THE DESIGN SALE 26th - 29th October 2022

3 Greetings, Some time ago, while having a coffee and a chat with my work colleagues, we were reminiscing and talking about the many fine items that have passed through O’Reilly’s over the years. About a decade ago, we used to hold two premier sales over and above the regular monthly auctions. We gave these sales the titles of ‘Winter Jewels’ and ‘Spring Jewels’. For these pre- internet and in-person sales we produced a fully illustrated catalogue. Can you imagine, we even held a wine reception prior, something unthinkable now post Covid. Well, no sooner had we drained the last of the coffee in our cups we decided it was time for O’Reilly’s to host another premier event. Recently, we have been honoured with the instructions to bring to the market the studio collection of the late Marika Murnaghan (q.v) and two fine works from the studio collection of Alexander Sokolov (q.v) the West Cork sculptor who died earlier in the year. This sale we felt should be called ‘The Design Sale’ as a nod to these two extraordinary ar tists.
