6 THE DES IGN SALE | L IVE AUCT ION, 8t h Oc tober 2025 a t 12pm Few jewellery collections have achieved the cult status of Car tier’s Love series, a line that blends sleek design with deep symbolism. The story began in 1969, when Aldo Cipullo, a young Italian designer at Car tier New York, created the now-famous Love bracelet. Its oval shape and screw-motif fastener, tightened with a miniature screwdriver, captured the idea of permanence and devotion, transforming jewellery into a wearable symbol of modern love. As the design’s popularity grew, Car tier expanded the collection beyond the bracelet. The Love ring quickly emerged as a favourite, echoing the same engraved screw motif in a circular form. Available in yellow, rose, and white gold, as well as platinum, the rings are offered in both classic and diamond-set versions, making them versatile symbols of romance—whether chosen as a wedding band, a daily statement, or a discreet luxury piece. The Love earrings extend the design into a more expressive form. From understated gold studs to elegant hoops encrusted with diamonds, they carry the same visual codes of Cipullo’s original idea while offering wearers a lighter, more playful interpretation. Together with necklaces and pendants, the rings and earrings have ensured the collection’s evolution from a single bracelet into a complete jewellery universe. Today, the Cartier Love series stands as one of the Maison’s most enduring creations, beloved not only for its clean lines and sophistication but also for the way it reimagines jewellery as a lasting expression of connection.
